BAS acts as a bridge from knowledgeable people to less knowledgeable people. We welcome volunteers that wish to contribute in Kathmandu. Volunteers have come from a number of countries including; Sweden, Denmark, Australia and Nepal. Together we work in the shelter, visit hospitals to help new and old patients or organize workshops regarding health related issues.
Not one day is the same as the other, and there is always something going on at the shelter. The volunteers spend a lot of their time together with the patients, caring for them and sharing everyday chores. This can include cooking, cleaning and washing clothes. The time can also be spent on helping children with their homework, creative works such as drawing and painting or just playing together. A lot of the time the volunteers take care of mentally and physically disable children for their feeding, bathing, changing and playing with them. Exactly what you will do as a volunteer, depends on your own skills, knowledge and wishes. Everyone contributes in their own special way.
